PJM and our employees support innovative and enhanced education opportunities for inspired students. PJM annually hosts a Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day that aligns with the national program. PJM and employees also host student tours with a focus on careers in energy.
PJM works with high school students through a partnership with the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math high school in Downingtown, Pa. PJM employees attend events and career fairs to interest young students in both engineering and PJM as a future employer. Similar activities occur with Carver High School of Engineering in Philadelphia. PJM participates in its annual science fair to meet students and provide mentoring relationships. PJM also has worked with Saint Gabriel’s Hall, a neighbor in Audubon, Pa., to provide opportunities for youths to be introduced to a corporate environment and gain insight into careers in the electric industry. PJM employees completed a mentoring program with St. Gabriel’s students centered on building a solar model car for a competition at the school.
PJM sponsors the Hybrid X Team of West Philadelphia High School’s Academy of Automotive and Mechanical Engineering. The Hybrid X Team’s mission is to design and build a vehicle using existing technology in innovative ways to achieve ultra-low carbon emissions and ultra-high fuel efficiency. PJM also supports the Devon Preparatory School Solar Car Team and the Methacton High School Electric Car Club, which is the school district where PJM is located.
PJM helps fund scholarships as well. In 2013 PJM provided scholarships to engineering students belonging to the American Association of Black Engineers. PJM also provided scholarships for the Villanova Women of Color group.
